DAFNE (the European Network of Foundations’ and Donors’ Associations) is pleased to announce the appointment of Max von Abendroth as its Brussels-based Executive Director. ‘Max brings a wealth of experience of managing and representing a European network, in the field of media, he will be a wonderful asset to our network’ said Felix Oldenburg, DAFNE Chairman.
‘This significant addition to our team will strengthen our strategic and mutually supportive relationships with relevant organisations in Brussels, bringing the value of our national reach and the breadth of their foundation membership base to enhance the effectiveness of advocacy work for the foundation sector across Europe’, added Magda Pekacka, DAFNE vice chair.
Max has been working since 2009 as the Executive Director of the European Magazine Media Association, EMMA, in Brussels, representing 15.000 press publishers across Europe vis-à-vis the European institutions. In 2012 Max initiated the Future Media Lab think tank linking media innovation and public policy. He is co-founder and director of the start-up “Accelerating European Media Innovation and Insight”, AEMII. Max sits on the Board of Fondation EURACTIV #Media4EU.
He will take up his position on 1st October. Dr James Magowan, DAFNE’s Co-ordinating Director, will continue in his role developing the network and supporting the sharing of learning and experience within the network.
